I used Lyft for the first time to go pick up my car from the dealership. Halfway through the ride, the driver got a call through his car speaker. It was someone talking about repossessing his car. He quickly took the call off speaker and said quietly that he just needed two more weeks.
My heart sank. I’ve been in that position before, and I knew what that meant. Once they’re calling, they’re not likely to wait.
I asked him a few gentle questions, and after hearing his situation, I decided to do something. I called the bank myself and paid the amount needed to bring his account current.
When he realized what I had done, he broke down in tears right there in the car. And I’ll be honest—I cried too. He didn’t ask for help. He was just trying to hold it together and keep working.
Before I got out, I told him, “Some of the best people, including me, have been right where you are. Keep going. Better days are coming.”
It felt so good to help from the heart, with no cameras, no expectations—just one human being lifting up another.
It’s a blessing to be able to bless someone else. ❤️
